961: Risqué Kaloma Photo wife Josephine Earp Wyatt
1914 photo print of "Kaloma," long rumored to be Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp, alluring wife of famed gunslinger Wyatt Earp. Image features Kaloma wearing a sheer robe in a three-quarter frontal standing pose. Excellent print of original "Kaloma" image housed in Tombstone, AZ's courthouse museum. According to legend, Earp's third wife posed for the risqué shot while drunk. A novelty company in New York City published the picture as a postcard, and "Kaloma" became a popular pinup during World War I. Image, measuring 5" x 12", marked in lower right "1914 P.N. Co." and printed "Kaloma" at bottom. Surface wear on verso, overall toning, a stray stain at edges and a speck in upper left background field not affecting subject. Alluring image in good condition overall.
