Description
This chair was from the Swedish Royal Holdings and was used in an office at the Stromsholm Palace. This empire style chair is attributed to Ephraim Ståhl and the design exhibits a markedly Egyptian flair with carved Pharaoh’s heads at the arms and deep sabre legs measures(83cm) 33"h. CHAIRMAKER "Ephraim Ståhl" Chair maker, born in Stockholm on August 17, 1767, died May 10, 1820. He was an apprentice of Lars Söderholm from 1785 to 1790. Ståhl was a gifted, enterprising and very popular chair maker, frequently used for chair making in the late Gustavian period. His production of furniture was comprehensive, especially for castles, administration buildings and manor houses where many well preserved pieces of furniture
