EARLY 1/6 DAGUERREOTYE, VERY RARE MAKER

This typical early pose of a man leaning on his arm is very faint. It's in a stippled oval mat in a full leather case. John Craig's Daguerreian Registry has this entry on Dexter: " A leather daguerreotype case in private collection, c. 1845, has a raised imprint on the exterior reading 'Dexter Albany.' This is the only reference we have to identify this daguerreian." This is that case. Leather cases with imprints on the cover are quite rare. The most common seen are by Brady and Meade. The plate would have to be graded [1].
