The casual pose with her head slightly turned is similar to poses favored by Southworth & Hawes (though I'm not suggesting this is by them.) She has an almost smiling expression.
This 1/4 plate daguerreotype is in the right compartment of a double thermoplastic case, No. 3 -22 in Berg's book on cases, (valued at $150.) The left compartment has the same mat, but no image. [3] ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
