He has a wreath of flowers on his shoulder and upper chest. The hat is like a fez with cloth hanging down. 1/6 plate ambrotype on ruby glass, in a nice example of the thermoplastic case "Eagle and Flag," No 1 – 55 in Berg's book on cases. This is a rare example of the case that has the theme on both sides. The normal case with the theme only on the cover is listed at $200.
