VERY RARE IMAGE OF A CROW NAMING CEREMONY.

4 3/4" X 6 3/4" gelatin silver print ca. 1905- 1910. As far as known this ceremony is not otherwise recorded. The naked baby lies on a buffalo robe. The name-giver stands at left. The mother sits to the baby's right, with the father to her right, his forehead painted. The grandmothers stand beside the tipi entrance.
