Lot of 3 Hand-Colored Currier & Ives Lithographs c. 1860-1870, Lot of 3 Currier & Ives Prints, "The Tomb of Washington" and Others, NY, Average Fine. 1. "The Tomb of Washington" nicely hand-colored 15" x 18.5" lithograph by Currier & Ives with hues of pink, blue, green and yellow. The 1.25" border of the print is slightly torn and has some foxing along the edges, but the print itself is hardly touched. 2. "John Brown - The Martyr" 1870 hand-colored 13.75" x 9.75" lithograph with hues of pink, blue and yellow, featuring John Brown "Meeting a Slave Mother and her Child on the steps of Charlestown Jail on his way to Execution." There is some chipping along the .75" border but the print itself is nicely toned. As well, the close-up nature of the piece invites the onlooker to a sweet level of intimacy. A nice print. 3. c. 1865 hand-colored 11.5" x 8" lithograph with hues of red, blue, green and yellow, matted in a 14.25" x 10.5" board, featuring a Civil War officer, his wife, and small child. There is a slight loss of color in the wife's red dress, but overall this Currier & Ives print seems to be in very good condition. (3 prints) ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
