Three-piece inlaid walnut secretary/bookcase, late 18th century, top with two frame-and-panel doors, interior with three shelves, lamb's tongue chamfered corners, extensive string and floral inlay throughout, four dovetailed graduated and cockbeaded drawers, bone-inlaid diamond escutcheons, fall board with inlay "1805," interior with six dovetailed drawers and six cubbyholes flanking central prospect door, hidden drawer behind, brass pulls probably original, front feet and glue blocks probably original, extensive rebuilding of skirt and glue blocks, lacking three locks and several parts of brass pulls, three backboards replaced, separations in case, losses and warpage to inlay, reinforced base, lacking original cove molding with later swan's neck pediment, extensive rebuilding and restoration throughout, written on top of base "Old Curiosity Shop…Louisville, Kentucky," one drawer marked "Don.
