Civil War Diaries from 61st Pennsylvania Volunteers Regiment and written by Lt. Richard R. Lippincott. Incredibly detailed content including horrific battlefield descriptions, first person emotions, battlefield poetry, a scribe for General D.M. Couch - there are detailed (several large pages each) battle reports dictated by Gen. Couch immediately following the battle (including the battle of "Malvern Hill"!). These diaries are the most informational, eloquent and largest American Civil War diaries that we have had the honor to sell!! Along with these three books there is an excellent tintype photograph of the diaries' author in full military regalia, a stereoview sized posed albumen photograph depicting boys and very young men in uniforms with weapons (including a young black boy) as well as an interesting and enlightening Quaker statement regarding the war by his Pacific group - a passage which reads "The sword was unsheathed and several of our young men entered into the conflict." An important piece of American History which opens a window into the past allowing us a rare, vivid first person account of America's most polarized and bloodiest era!! 7 3/4"h x 6 1/2"w. 3/4" thick
