NOBUO SATOH (JAPANESE) ETCHING
Nobuo Satoh (Japanese, 1926--) sight 9 3/4" x 14 1/4" artist proof etching. Titled "Toys". Signed in pencil lower right "Nobuo Satoh", lower left "Artist Proof", with Japanese characters in pencil center. Born in 1926 in Kanagawa, Japan. He is known for his etchings and mezzotints. Member of the Japan Print Association. His works are in various museum collections. Provenance: Originally from the estate of Harry E. Hoffman, (1924-2013) He graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. degree, and began a tour with the US Air Force, serving in the Signal Corps during WWII. Following his military career, Harry joined the State Department, working in the Foreign service and purchased much of his art collection during that time. He traveled around the world extensively. Following his retirement from the Foreign Service, Harry retired to Dillsboro in 1981. He was involved with the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Cincinnati Art Museum, and Indianapolis Art Museum.
