General Butler-(2571) J & E Stevens Co., Political Satire Bank, Circa 1884. "Caricature of General Benjamin F. Butler, who ran for president of the United States on the Greenback-Labor and Anti-Monopolist Ticket in 1884. In 1878, Arnold Selisberg of New York City was granted a patent for a bank which fits the description of this one. Bank depicts the general holding a bunch of greenbacks. Inscription: 'Bullion and yachts for myself and my friends, dry bread and greenbacks for the people.' Bank is an excellent portrait of Butler." (Near Mint Condition)
