HULK, JOHANNES FREDERIK, SGD.19th C. OIL/CANVAS,(b. Amsterdam 1855)App. inside dims: 54cm. x 79cm. Frame is app. 6"wide. Scene depicts canal & town in Holland (Amsterdam) with exquisite detail. His paintings have been sold at Sothebys & Christies in Holland. This is an estate item. Family history dates back to early 1900's coming to America from Arnheim, Netherlands. They brought with them 3 treasured paintings, this one being among them. Family history says they were instrumental in helping establish Rijks Museum. Painting is in very good condition for its age, there's paint crackle in the trees/bushes, one tiny flake left side of ship's flag. Frame needs restoration due to brittleness.
