Italian Carved Walnut Sacristy Cabinet, 17th century and later, the rectangular top banded and above a case fitted with three frieze drawers and two small end drawers, over two cabinet doors, each with a carved scene of St. George and the Dragon, centered by a recessed arched panel with a deeply carved draped figure, above a carved and molded plinth base, the whole finely carved in masque, foliate and geometric patterns, h. 42", w. 79-1/2", d. 24".

Solid and sturdy. In good restored condition. The piece exhibits wear consistent with age: abrasions, shrinkage, scattered minor losses, and restorations including some replaced moldings, tips to carving, drawer restorations, and likely a replaced back. Some scattered insect damage, most notably to the lower panels on both returns. The top exhibits several splices. It is constructed of a banded single board. Drawers and doors open and close smoothly.
