Hall of Fame member Joe Sewell wearing black armband, framed and matted photograph with autographed 3 x 5 card. Overall size is 16½ high by 13½ wide. NOTE: Joe Sewell was called up to the big league to replace Ray Chapman at short stop in 1920. Ray Chapman died August 17, 1920 after being hit in the head form a pitch by Carl Mays of the Yankees, he was the only player to ever die from injuries suffered on field. The Cleveland team wore black armbands the remainder of the season. This is from the Ken Best Collection; he began this collection in 1947. This autograph was collected at a HOF Induction Ceremony or at some other sporting events he attended or by mailing a request directly to the ballplayer.
