Colonial Era Pen&Ink Holder Desk Box
Description
Colonial Era Pen and Ink Holder Desk Box
c. 1770, Decorated Wooden Pen and Ink Holder Desk Box, Fine.
Quaint pen and ink desk box with four moving sections, 9.25" long, 1.4" high, 2" wide, with sliding cover decorated with red and green floral design. Ink well and pen compartment both swivel out, revealing a deeper compartment for storing more writing utensils. One of the swivel screws has been replaced, but the original tack or brad is still in place on the ink well, which has a chipped absence on one end, approx. 2.5" long, 1/4" thick. Worn, light colored wooden box is toned, soiled, and nicked from usage and age, but is neatly crafted and a nice example of colonial era artisanry. The first of this type we've offered!
