We are very pleased to present this striking & early, ca. 1900 & scarce triple ground color, Bohemian bottom blown frosted & speckled glass vase with a traditional crimped tri-cornered rim and a gorgeous daisy floral pattern. This large vase features classic Bohemian hand enameling, with the signature heavy burnt orange enamel formula. Our pink to white to robins egg blue frosted vase carries a pre-1910 pontil scar, weighs 1# 8 oz. and measures 4.75 x 4.75 x 9.25 inches tall. This is a gorgeous antique Bohemian vase in wonderful condition. xxxxxxxxxxxx. 95% Of English and virtually all American hand blown glass was by the traditional bottom blowing process(glory hole gather, to punti rod, to blown & formed, then broken off the rod = the pontil scar) thus there will always be either a rough or polished out (dished) pontil scar on the base. The latter 19th century Bohemian blown glass was also produced with the bottom blown process. However, ca. 1910-1915, Bohemian glass vases and other pieces were seen with flush ground and sharp 90 degree radius rims. The lack of any bottom scar or polished area, issued in the great era of classic Bohemian TOP BLOWN glass. These vessels are easily recognized in deference to flat rimed English & American hand blown items, which may have flat top rims, but unlike the Bohemian, any finish will feature either a gently rounded form, or in the case of a flat ground rim, will not evidence the rope cutting sharp 90 degree radius, which is so pointed, that one might cut a finger.
