The first hobnail item made by Fenton Art Glass was in 1935, and constituted a French opalescent lamp font. 1936 to 1938 saw the first real production of hobnail pieces in the form of the first L.G. Wright contract Rare (6) part mold full size barber bottles, and examples with the abbreviated three ring necks, were sold to Wrigley of Chicago in 1938, along with puff boxes, all topped with wooden lids. Between 1938 & 1980, Hobnail patterns were collected with genuine fervor, with Fenton producing no less than 49 separate colors of hobnail glass, some supplied for decades and others for short stretches of years.
