This Fenton French Opalescent Coin Dot basket treasure, weighs 2# 6 oz., measures 10.5 x 9 x 9.5 inches tall, and is in spectacular condition. This example is one of the more expensive & collectible in the French Opalescent line, and currently books for ~ $200-$225. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. The origin of the Fenton Art Glass Opalescent Coin Dot pattern dates to 1947, a year in which Fenton introduced its newest style in French, Blue & Cranberry Opalescent colors. The Coin Dot pattern was taken from an old Victorian Polka Dot pattern, and differs from the original & later Fenton Dot Optic pattern, in that the Coin Dot shows base glass color dots, overlaid by the opalescent glass top to bottom. The lifespan of the French Opalescent Coin Dot color, basically lasted until the end of 1953, with a very few items surviving until the end of 1956 (#1467 FO Ice Lip Jug).
