Item Details
Description
We are very pleased to present this gorgeous 1979 vintage Fenton Art Glass square shoulder, ruffled rim pitcher in the Cameo (Amber) Opalescent Spiral Optic pattern. Our Fenton Ware #3164-CO pitcher features the classic Fenton bottom left to top right fiery Opalescent spirals, and is finished in the precise reeded applied crystal handle. This gorgeous pitcher is in spectacular condition, and was the most expensive of the Cameo Opalescent Spiral Optic pieces, currently listing in the $100-$120 range. In 1979 both blue & Cameo colors were offered in this pattern, constituting a re-issue of the original Fenton line ca. 1939 (see history below), and only (6) items were offered in each group. Perhaps this is the reason that at least 1/2 of each color was discontinued in December, 1979, only to see the pitchers last only until July, 1980. This stunning pitcher carries both the black & old Glass-makers label, and the Fenton oval logo on the base. Our Cameo weighs 2# 10 oz. and stands 6.5 x 5.25 x 7.5 inches tall. xxxxxxxxxxxx. Fenton inventory records indicate that in 1938, the Spiral Optic (Opalescent) line was born, offering (4) sizes of Top Hat vases. By 1939, all of the original colors were shown including, Stiegel Blue Spiral Optic (only made in 1939), Cranberry Spiral, French Opalescent Spiral, Green Opalescent Spiral, Topaz Opalescent Spiral, and the unique Crested Blue Ridge Spiral. ALL OF THESE CEASED PRODUCTION IN 1940, EXCEPT the Cranberry, which re-issued (11) exciting forms beginning in 1950, with all discontinued in 1959. Both the Blue Opalescent Spiral (not Stiegel Blue) and Cameo Opalescent Spiral were presented in January of 1979, but were produced for just 17 months, being discontinued in July of 1980.
