There are five (5) gorgeous Beaded Cluster Clip on Earrings in a range of color, all are signed Japan. There is a classy pearl bead with glowing green beads inset; a white blue and silver bead earring with varied shapes to the beads; a fancy lt green and silver pair has some sugared beads; the pink and red cluster earring is striking with a large Aurora Borealis finished faceted Rhinestone offset in front. The cluster earrings also include an unusual sparkly blue pair with a large Lucite glowing ball on top and a space age design shape. There are three undecorated larger plastic earrings, two screw back and one clip pair. Also three slightly more modern pairs of earrings, a purple/red front framed in gold tone, a faux pearl dome with gold rope framing and a gold tone with cream enamel that are fairly heavily weighted. All earrings shown are clip or screw back. Your bid is for the entire lot. .............Weight : 3.9oz Measurements: largest approx 1 inch diameter ............................HISTORY: A great deal of vintage Japanese costume jewelry is very well made, far better than most contemporary fashion jewelry. Many pieces are on par with Coro Trifari, Lisner and some designs are mistaken for Miriam Haskell. In the past, Japan jewelry was sometimes held in low regard by collectors. This was because after WWII, labor in Japan was cheap and the mass imported jewelry was inexpensive. Now, we recognize that much of this jewelry is hand strung by talented artisans with such an array of designs that rarely are two Japan necklaces found exactly alike. In fact, many Coro bead necklaces of the 1940s and 1950s and possibly some Lisner beaded pieces were actually imported from Japan. The artisans of Japan, while highly impoverished, were also highly skilled. Japan faux peals are the best in the world; Miriam Haskell used them on her jewelry along with gorgeous crystal, lampwork and hand painted art glass beads. All these, along with moonglow beads, hand painted plastics, acrylics with foil and aurora borealis coatings can be found in vintage hallmarked and unmarked Japan jewelry. The fabulous color & shape combinations are now highly sought after by todays savvy collectors.
