We are exceptionally pleased to present this classic Fenton Art Glass Cranberry Opalescent Hobnail item in the form of the #3863-CR tri-cornered rim cruet with the crystal crown stopper. This cruet was first issued in July 1941, and along with ~ 3-4 other forms, were SO POPULAR, that they survived all the way until 1977! This incredible cruet has great opalescence, and features a precise reeded crystal handle, which as we know with many pitchers, WAS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PLAIN OR NICKED FENTON HANDLE & THE L.G. WRIGHT REEDED PATTERN, SOLD IN MANY COLORS. HOWEVER, AFTER A CLOSE EXAMINATION OF THE L.G. WRIGHT INVENTORY, IT SHOWS NO CRANBERRY OPALESCENT HOBNAIL PIECES WERE EVER MARKETED BY WRIGHT!! The inescapable conclusion is that the reeded handle was applied to the all-inclusive Cranberry Opalescent Hobnail Fenton pattern ca. 1960, following the discontinuation of the nicked smooth handles in 1959. Our marvelous cruet is in spectacular condition, weighs 13 oz. and measures 4 x 4 x 6.5 inches tall. The current book for the #3863-CR is between $150 & $175.
