A Letter Home 1893

This is a letter in the shape of a foot written by James P. Griffith to his family in 1893. The subject of the letter is Mr. Griffiths trip to the 1893 Chicagos World Fair where in he writes about his meeting with the tallest women to ever wall the earth Ella Ewing. Apparently for a nickel she would allow you to trace her foot on a piece of paper as a keep sake. At the age of 7 Ella started to grow rapidly. At age 12 she was 5 fott 6 inches and by 18 she was 7 foot 8 inches she reached her tallest point at age 22 of 8 foot 4 inches tall.
