Man, woman, child. Some condition problems. All have rosy cheeks - child appears to be hand-painted. Average size: 2" x 2.5". Provenance:Ben Apfelbaum Est. $300 - $500 / Ship: $15 There is a wonderful selection of Daguerreotypes, Ambrotypes, Tintypes and photos in this sale. Most of the items came to us from one consignor. The consignor had hired an expert to appraise the collection. As our specialty is really 20th c. self-taught art, and not photography, we used the descriptions determined by the consignors appraiser in our catalog. We have received numereous emails regarding our descriptions and advice about correcting original mistakes from ebay bidders which we truly appreciate. Based on this advice we have revised many of the descriptions. This particular images were originally described as a daguerreotypes but appears to be ambrotypes. They are not mirrored looking as a daguerreotype , but rather reflective as glass would be. They are not attracted to a magnet.
