Wooden Jiggs Butler Stand Ash Tray

Tremendous floor standing ash tray measuring 37" tall, hand carved of wood and hand painted to resemble the "Jiggs" character that made its first appearance in the comic strip "Bringing Up Father," which began in 1913. The strip provided a caricature of American life in the early 20th century and was one of many popular creations of George McManus. His extended hand holds a wooden ring meant to be a serving tray, in which sits an ash tray. This particular ash tray is embossed with an advertisement for "Jordan's Ready To Eat Meats." In overall EXMT condition with minor chipping on the butler and some wear on the wooden base.
