Rare Pair of Cut Crystal Gasoliers, c. 1900, possibly Baccarat, with a cut crystal urn support hung with prisms and prism chains, to four swirled crystal arms with frosted crystal gryphons with spire surmounts, linked by prism chains to the arms with original gas cocks and later frosted shades, hung with numerous prism spears, separated by four downward facing electric lights with later frosted glass shades, now electrified, H.- 59 in., Dia.- 39 in.

Condition consistent with age and use. There are several prisms lacking from the swirled crystal arms on both gasoliers (each arm has between 11 and 14 crystals). One of the upward facing frosted shades is not an exact match for the other seven. One of the downward facing frosted shades is off but present because the brass fitting is loose. The baluster-form crystal finial at the base of one gasoliers is lacking. The surface of the brass is worn throughout with some green patina. There is a hairline crack across the neck of one crystal gryphon and fleabite chips at the tips of two gryphon’s tails. There is some brown residue on the interior of the crystal cups under the shades. Requires new wiring for use. An impressive pair.
