
James Longstreet Autograph
Description
A bank draft form the State Banking Company, Gainesville, Georgia, drawn on October 13, 1902, to Doc Grady, signed James Longstreet, framed together with two sepia toned reprints of Civil War images including a portrait of Longstreet in uniform and Confederate soldiers surveying the aftermath if a direct hit form a siege gun that destroyed Confederate caissons at Marye Heights, with a framed explanation. Note: Also known as "Pete", Longstreet (1821-1904) was a West Point graduate (class of 1842) and C.S.A. general. He fought in almost every major engagement, including the First Bull Run, Yorktown, Fair Oaks and Seven Pines, Second Bull Run, Antietam, Gettysburg, the Knoxville campaign, and the Wilderness. At Fredericksburg, Longstreet's defenses of Marye Heights inflicted terrible losses on the attacking Federals. 17 1/2" x 21 1/2", framed. Condition: bank draft with light creases and tiny loss at left edge, otherwise good, document not inspected out of frame.
