Simple clip autograph "Gideon J. Pillow Major Gen U.S.A." with a flamboyant punctuating swirl under the signature, framed together with a Harper's Weekly Journal of Civilization page from Vol. VI, No. 272, New York, Saturday, March 15, 1862, the cover depicting two views of Fort Donelson, and a sepia toned reprint of Gideon Pillow in uniform. Provenance: R.M. Smythe. 22" x 26", framed. Condition: signature with very small tear (1/16") at the top center of clip, Harper's in good condition, document not examined out of frame, otherwise very good.
