William Mahone Autograph
Description
Simple clip signature "William Mahone 1884 Virginia", framed together with The World, Volume V, No. 1248, Tuesday, June 21, 1864, with an article on "Petersburg", Anthony stereograph card (c. 1865-71) "Dead Rebel Soldier…before Petersburg", and two sepia toned and treated reprints of Mahone in uniform and "Inside of Confederate lines, Petersburg, Va. 1865", with framed explanation. 26 1/2" x 38", framed. Note: Mahone was a C.S.A. general who was promoted on the field by Robert E. Lee for his performance during "the Petersburg mine assault". Condition: very light crease in signature, crease in center of paper, otherwise good, not inspected out of frame. Provenance: R.M. Smythe Auction.
