Spanish-American 1898 American Warship Watercolor

1898, Watercolor of the Battleship Maine and the Cruiser Montgomery, N.Y., Choice Extremely Fine.
This 18.5” x 25.5” watercolor print has been framed to an overall size of 23.5” x 31.5”. The pencil and pastel on watercolor displays the Battleship Maine and the Cruiser Montgomery at sea. The Maine, measuring 11”, is shaded in an aquamarine color while the Montgomery, measuring 6”, is shaded in a tangerine color. When the USS Battleship Maine suffered an explosion on February 3, 1898 in harbor at Havana, Cuba, the United States had the excuse it needed to launch a war with Spain. There is a minor toned spot in the right margin as well as faint toning line just off center of the print.
