Gino D'Achille, acrylic on board painting for The Warlord of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, third in the series, 1973, 14"x18". When Gino was given the assignment to do all eleven of the Ballantine covers for the Edgar Rice Burroughs series of Mars books, he decided to tie them together visually in an interesting way. The colors he used for the right-hand edge of each painting exactly match those used for the left-hand edge of the subsequent painting, making for a wonderful visual effect.
