Item Details
Description
American, circa early 20th century, painted wood structure with pierced metal railing and window frames; As Mrs. Jacobs contends in Antique Dolls' Houses, Flora Gill Jacobs © 2005 on pages 141-143, where this house is pictured and discussed, this elaborate house appears to be commercially made. The meticulous detailing through out suggest a possible builders' model, as no known manufacturer of this house is known. The exterior boasts a faux stone foundation, colonnaded front entry, dentilated molding under roof line, arched Palladian styled windows and a sun room wing with roof top patio which is removable for access to sun room interior. The fine detailing continues in the interior and does not disappoint - stained wood floors, a columned doorway from the front hall into living room area, arched glazed side door from kitchen, double doors leading to the rooftop patio, painted carved wood tile floors and walls in bathroom. Three removable wall panels separate several rooms (another aspect that points to this as a builder model). This wonderful house offers great architectural appeal and is well suited for smaller scale furniture.
