This commemorative porcelain cup has been hand decorated with the Royal Cypher of King Edward VII on the front and was made in 1902 to celebrate the Coronation of The King. One side shows the Kings Coat-of-Arms and on the other is an inscription.
The porcelain cup is 2 5/8" - 65mm tall and is in very good condition. There are no chips but the Gold Gilding along the rim and along the handle has worn off. There is also a Minor hairline crack a the top of the handle.
Lithophane (or Lithopane, as it's sometimes called), is a process, invented by Baron de Bourgoing of Paris in 1827, whereby a portrait is embodied within the china base, and can be seen in front of a strong light.
