The black and white photograph of a female torso was taken by the American photographer Greg Gorman. He is mostly known for his numerous portraits of celebrities, such as for example Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Robert de Niro or Michael Jackson. As off the mid-1980s Gorman decided to expand his creative genre and focused on the depiction of the male and the female nude. The work on hand derives from this period in which he explored the human figure and creates an atmospheric composition through the use of light and shadow.



The photograph is in very good condition. It is monogrammed lower right with ‘GG’ and numbered lower left with the edition ‘109/250’. The dimensions are 60 x 80 cm.



Greg Gorman (b. 1949)

Greg Gorman was born in 1949. He completed his studies in photojournalism but his love to rock ‘n’ roll and a portrait photo of Jimi Hendrix led his career into another direction. Today he is mostly known for his several portraits of some of the world’s most famous celebrities. His photos have decorated the covers of some of the most well-known magazines. As off the mid-1980s he began to explore the nude to broaden his genre. He has published an array of photography books and his works are being exhibited worldwide. His works were recently exhibited in the Helmut Newton Museum in Berlin. Today he lives and works in Los Angeles.
