This color serigraph on an offset lithograph with applied, colored feather dates back to 1989 and was made by the Swiss painter and sculptor Jean Tinguely (1925-1991). The work is entitled ‘L'Odalisque N ° 2’ and rendered are different colors and shapes, which form an exhilarating print for the senses. The work on BFK Rives vellum paper (with water mark) is dated and signed at the lower edge in the print substrate ‘89 Jean Tinguely’.



The work of Jean Tinguely (1925-1991) is mounted on the reverse at the upper corners on a cardboard but otherwise in very good condition. The sheet measures 76 x 56 cm and has a framed overall dimension of 94 x 72 cm.



Jean Tinguely (1925-1991)

The Swiss painter and sculptor Jean Tinguely, born in 1925 in Freiburg, got renowned for his mobile, machine-like sculptures. His first free works of art are made of wire, wire-plate-compositions as well as characters from colorful sheet metal part. His abstract works reflect the elements of Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, and Auguste Herbin. Tinguely's cinetic sculptures are considered to be cheerful, playful and funny. In 1960 he became a member of the Artists' Association ‚Nouveaux Réalistes’ (New Realists) which was founded and under the direction of Pierre Restany. In the same year Tinguely caused attention by his large machines made of scrap in the garden of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His later works are extended by the factor of light, producing numerous light sculptures.
