Description
Japanese Three Panel Polychrome Dressing Screen, early 20th c., the scalloped crest over a central panel depicting two women, flanked by two folding panels with an interior scene of females within traditional architecture, H.- 70 1/8 in., W.- 53 in., D.- 1 in.
Condition
As found. Significant wear to the painted surface throughout the screen with chipping and hairline cracking on the fronts of the panels, possibly from water damage. There are repaired sections at the top right and left border on the center panel, with some black in-painting. There are small losses to the right tip of the scalloped crests of the center and right panels. The left tip of the scalloped crest on the left panel has been broken and repaired. Nice aesthetic quality despite the condition issues.
