Norman Mailer (1923-2007) Author. Mailer served in the army during World War II, and at the age of twenty-five published The Naked and the Dead. A partially autobiographical bestseller, it was one of the most significant novels to emerge from the war and it catapulted him to literary fame. His book, Tough Guys Don't Dance, The Franklin Library, 1984, no dust jacket, limited first edition, signed on the first white free end page. Privately printed for members of The Franklin Library's “Signed First Edition Societyâ€series. Hard bound in full leather with raised bands to spine edge, decorative gilt to boards and spine edge with gilt to all page edges, silk end pages and ribbon book mark. Condition, as new.
