Henri Gourand (1867-1946) French General. Gourand was commander of the French Expeditionary Corps committed in the Dardanelles Campaign of 1915 (Battle of Gallipoli) he lost his right arm. He commanded the Fourth Army on the Western Front, where he gained distinction for his use of elastic defense during the Second Battle of the Marne. On November 22, 1918, he entered the city of Strasbourg, freeing it from the Soviet government. 5†x 4†oval photograph, signed. The photograph has been mounted.
