Description
John Pershing (1860-1948) General. “Black Jack†Pershing was the commander of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) in Europe in World War I. After the war he was promoted to General of the Armies, a position previously held only by George Washington. His two volume book, My Experiences in the World War, Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1931, first edition, signed on the first title page “Greetings and best wishes to the Overseas Service League, John J. Pershing Washington Dec. 8, 1932.†No dust jacket, ex-library (American Red Cross) with their bookplate on the first page of both volumes, presentation note in another hand inside the cover of both volumes, sun-fade to the spines and a small stain where the library identification was removed, overall very good.
