Description

A printed muslin day dress, circa 1855, with gathers to pointed V at front waist, tiered skirt, bust approx 76cm, 30in, waist 61cm; together with an American Braided Wire Co bustle with printed eagle trademark 1870s or 80s (2)

Condition

Two faint yellow spot stains to front bodice on upper neck area. Slight soiling to left shoulder and frayed area approx. 1x3cm here also. Approx 1cm area of fray to right shoulder and underarm. Faint brown stains along rear closure edge and waist. Good 2.5 x 1cm patch at right elbow area. Numerous small darns to rear waist area and wear at waist closure. Bodice lining has faint brown stains generally. Sleeves would have had pagoda/flared shape but have been narrowed. Skirt with faint brown spot stains scattered generally but not immediately noticeable due to pattern. Bustle is generally good, 3cm split in strap that fastens, label has 2 ink marks
