Consignor’s great-grandmother was born in Boston in 1891, as dated on this canvas. Mr. Kronberg was also born in Boston, and displayed artistic talent early on. He would have been about 20 years old at the time of this work. Although in New York by that time, he continued to have ties in Boston. Thus it could be concluded that this painting may have been commissioned.
