Description
A wonderful Tiffany ivory and silver cane. The lovely handle is 2 1/3” high and 1 3/4” at its widest. It is fashioned with an angled carved ivory top that measures 3/4” by 1 3/4”, and sits atop a silver base. The ivory is fashioned with a scroll at one end and curved short lines around its perimeter. The silver has angled fluting with random blossoms above sawteeth and then a smooth blown-out base. It is marked: “Tiffany & Co., Makers, Sterling” around the bottom ring. The handle can be unscrewed from a threaded brass seat, a feature seen on many Tiffany. The shaft is fruitwood made with faux thorns and it finishes with a 1 1/3” aged horn ferrule that shows old evidence of insect larvae activity that has been in-filled. The overall length is 34 7/8" and the condition is very good. It is ca 1890 and it is a marvelous example of style and elegance from America’s finest maker of precious metal canes. Estimate: $2000-$3000
