A very nice pill dispenser gadget cane. The knob handle is 2 3/3” high and 1 2/3” across the top. It is made with a wood cap fitted over a metal stem that is painted in blue and white in a Dutch countryside scene that features two windmills. It is painted in Delft pottery style. There is a covered hole below the handle that is opened by twisting the shaft to access and remove pill capsules for use. The supply can be replenished by removing the handle by sliding friction, in order to access the storage compartment. The dark shaft is half metal and half wood and the piece finishes with a 7/8” burnished brass and rusted iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/3” and the condition is very good. It is perhaps from Holland, ca 1890, and it is a fine, usable example. Estimate: $1000-$1500
