Description
A beautiful French silver cane of a Bedouin and tigers. The large silver cylindrical handle is 3 1/4” high and 1 1/4” across the top. It features a Bedouin rider with a long rifle, wearing a turban. He is sitting atop a wounded camel that has evidently been attacked by two tigers that are lurking in the lush vegetation. It is marked at the base: “Depose”, (French for “patented”). The shaft is dark bamboo that ends with an aged, 2 1/4” burnished brass and rusted iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/2” and the condition is very good. It is ca 1880, and it is a very fine silver example with a story. Estimate: $850-$1250
