Description
A very nice English ivory and malacca ca 1840 cane. The ivory knob handle is 2” high and 1 1/2” across the top that shows age lines commensurate with its period. There is a 2/3” lined silver collar that is inscribed: “G.C. Nichols, Holburn”, for the owner and his London neighborhood. Below the collar are square silver eyelets on a full-bark malacca shaft that terminates with an aged, 2 1/8” burnished brass and iron ferrule. The overall length is 34” and the condition is very good. It is a fine example of an early 19th Century decorative cane made with quality materials and designed for evening wear. Estimate: $850-$1250
