A lovely damascene tau cane with gold eyelets

Item Details

Description

A lovely damascene tau cane with gold eyelets. The small steel damascene tau handle is 1 3/4” high and 2 3/4” long. It is fashioned in gold decoration on a black background and it features the signature Toledo flying dragons. The unusual hardwood shaft has polished branch nibs and raised rings for its entire length. There are two gold eyelets that are inscribed. One reads: “Paris 1881” and the other seems to indicate the name of the owner but it is worn in places. It terminates with a 1 1/4” aged bimetal ferrule. The overall length is 34 7/8” and the condition is very good. It is probably French and made with an imported handle. Estimate: $1000-$1500
