Item Details

Description

A very fine ivory cane of two mastiffs. The “L” ivory handle is 1 2/3” high and 5 1/4” long. It depicts in marvelous detail, the head of a mastiff at each end of the handle. The dogs have blackened highlights around their eyes as well as blackened noses. There is a 1 1/2” decorated gold-filled collar on a heavy ebony shaft with a 1 1/2” white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 34 2/3” and the condition is very good. It s American, ca 1885, and this very nice antique example is part of the Attorney Peter Davis Collection. Estimate: $1800-$2800
