Africa, Ivory Coast, Baule. A lidded container of wood, of unknown function. The handle of the lid is in the form of a bird, and the globular container itself has two faces and two tortoises opposing each other. Bands of cross-hatching and geometrical patterns adorn the piece and its open-worked base. Ht. ca. 9".
