Africa, Ghana, Asante. A lovely cast brass "Kuduo" or Spirit Container. It has an openwork base, the sides engraved with bands of geometric patterns. The lid shows two fighting animals, along with a male figure holding a curved sword or implement. H: 8”; Dia. 4 ¾”. See Leuzinger, The Art of Black Africa (1972), plate H-3 for an almost identical lid motif.
