Chile, Mapuche, c. 1200 1500 AD. A Rare Mapuche Quitra or stone pipe. This unusual stone carving is executed in the shape of an upright guanaco or other auquenid. It was probably used in ceremonies by the Machi or senior shaman of the tribe. It measures approximately 7 in height and has a nice aged surface. A rare and interesting item.
