THE SHIP'S BELL FROM THE FLOWER CLASS CORVETTE H.M.S. CONVOLVULUS (1940)
cast in brass with iron clapper, moulded rim, black-filled lettering, moulded shoulder with crown and remnant part of suspension bracket -- 13¾in. (35cm.) high

Ordered just before the declaration of War in 1939, Convolvulus was built at Bristol by Charles Hill & Sons. Launched in 1940, she was commissioned on 26th February 1941, issued with the pennant number K45, and served with the 36th Escort Group under the command of Lieutenant Richard Sinclair Connell RNR. She formed part of Convoy HG-76 from Gibraltar to the UK, in which four U-Boats were sunk for the loss of four ships (from a total of 32) and which is now regarded as a turning point for the allies in the Battle of the Atlantic. She was scrapped at Newport on 5th October 1947.
